What is the Ride for Refugees all about?

The RIDE for Refugees is a cycling fund-raiser held during October each year in support of refugees and internally displaced peoples. This family-friendly event raises much-needed money and awareness for the refugee services of International Teams Canada, a Christian NGO established in Canada since 1960, as well as select church and community refugee partners.

The RIDE for Refugees (Or just RIDE for short), began in 2004 with 22 riders and a desire to make a difference in the lives of refugees abroad and those coming to Canada along the infamous refugee highway.

Now, five years later, our fifth annual RIDE for Refugees will host an expected 2000 riders of all ages and abilities in many locations - Windsor, Moosomin, Waterloo, Hamilton, Oakville, Fort Erie, Fraser Lake, Muskoka, Halifax, and Montreal.

Most participants join or captain a team from their church, neighborhood or business. Riders can choose a 25, 50, 75 or 100 km route. Each RIDE location also features a 10 km Fun RIDE to facilitate all ages and fitness levels.

Fundraising is aided through the generous help of a Matching Fund Program, exciting Rider Rewards and the innovative RIDE Partner Grant that allows to direct 50% of the funds they've raised to approved refugee programs.

To learn more about who was involved and how we invested the money that was raised last year, download and read our 4-page 2007 RIDE Report.
